Formation, healing, and mission in the Kansas City region.
Our central program is the Kansas City campus of the Encounter School of Ministry, a formation school for adults who want to grow in the gifts of the Holy Spirit within the teaching of the Catholic Church.
The core program runs two years. Students meet weekly during the school year for teaching, worship, small group community, and hands-on activation. The curriculum can be found by visiting encounterschool.org.
Graduates of the two-year program may continue in a third-year track focused on deeper formation.
The school is open to adults of any age and any level of experience. We have students who have been in ministry for decades and students who have never prayed aloud with another person. No prior training is required. It's for anyone who knows they've been created for more.
Applications are handled through our parent organization. You can review the full curriculum and begin an application at encounterschool.org/apply. If you would like to talk with someone locally first, reach out to us directly. We are glad to answer questions before you commit.
We are launching a new hybrid campus in Seneca, Kansas, extending the same formation program to students in northeast Kansas who cannot travel to Overland Park weekly. The hybrid model combines in-person gathering at the Seneca site with remote participation in teaching sessions.
We hold healing services that are open to anyone carrying pain, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. These are free, open to the public, and you do not need to be a student, a parishioner, or Catholic to attend. Come as you are, receive prayer, and leave when you are ready.
Upcoming service dates are posted on our events calendar.
Formation is not the end goal. Being sent is. We organize and send mission teams both internationally and locally. Recent teams have served in Belize, and local outreach happens in parishes, neighborhoods, and public spaces throughout the Kansas City metro.
Our students learn to pray for the sick, share the Gospel, and serve their neighbors, and then they go and do it. That is the whole point of the school.
Beyond the weekly school, we host nights of worship, activation workshops, retreats, and parish missions throughout the year. Most are open to the public. See what is coming up on our events calendar.
Tuition for the school of ministry is set by the Encounter School of Ministry, and current rates are listed at encounterschool.org. Healing services and most public events are free.
We never want cost to be the reason someone cannot attend. Donations to Encounter Kansas City help fund seats for students who cannot cover tuition on their own. If cost is a barrier for you, please contact us and we will talk it through.
Classes and events are held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 103rd St, Overland Park, KS 66214, unless otherwise noted on the events calendar.
